The GO AFRICA Tour was originally called Cairo to Cape.
The idea was to travel from the very top of Africa to the very bottom of South Africa.
It was first called Cape to Cairo, then changed to Cairo to Cape, and eventually they came up with C to C because it was easier to say.
That was how it was.
But an African missions conference happened to fit perfectly with the schedule, and someone suggested that it would be good to begin the journey by being sent out from the missions conference in Alexandria.
So, in the end, we decided to start in Alexandria.
We also began thinking about making a GO AFRICA movie that would capture the realities of Africa and missions across the continent.
And that was how the name GO AFRICA Tour came about.
In the end, the starting point changed to Alexandria as well.
I wanted to go to Egypt so badly.
Since this was a journey across the continent, I wanted to start there with everyone.
I had also once received the words, “You must also see Egypt,” and ever since then, I had kept wondering when I would finally get to go to Egypt.
So I thought, Maybe this is the time.
But there were so many things to consider—the baby, my family, and the burden of moving up the entire team’s schedule.
We prayed and prayed.
There were also many people who wanted to start in Egypt, so we shared our thoughts and kept asking the Lord.
In the midst of that, I felt the Lord saying, “You are one team.”
I don’t know how everyone else interpreted those words,
but for me, I understood them immediately.
The Kona team and the Kenya team were each part of different organizations and different teams,
but this time, we had come together as the GO AFRICA team.
We were one team. We were one body.
Even if I couldn’t physically go,
our team was going,
so in a way, I had gone to Egypt too.
Of course, if we followed that logic, then whenever we prayed, everyone who prayed for a mission or a mission field could simply say that they had “gone” too.
But that wasn’t what this was about.
We truly gathered our hearts together to pray as one body.
So we used the Setlog app to pray every hour, with our hearts together with the GO AFRICA team.
And more than anything, we prayed because our team really was going to be there.
We prayed that our team, as one team, would do well.
I was truly sad that I couldn’t go to Egypt.
I was also disappointed because I wanted to go to the next country, Ethiopia, as well.
But our team was creating incredible testimonies along the way.
So in another way, that made me feel like I was missing out too.
From that point on, I began to wonder if I might do this journey again someday.
In one way or another.
