Arrival in Kenya 🇰🇪
The flight was not easy.
First, Roah’s fever started going up and down even before we left.
She had already done well on more than twenty flights, but this time, she struggled a lot.
Both Sehee and I were on a night flight, and it was a long one, but neither of us was able to sleep well with Roah.
She had simply gotten too big to sleep comfortably in her mother’s arms, and she wasn’t feeling well either.
We tried showing her SpongeBob and calming her down with various kinds of media, but it only helped for a short while. She cried and struggled so much that we became very conscious of the people around us.
We arrived in Dubai and had a short layover.
Thankfully, Roah had fun playing with her aunts and uncles.
Even with Dubai’s famously expensive prices, we tried to find something Roah could eat, but in the end, she ate the French fries that came with the hamburgers we were having.
I was proud of Roah for holding up so well, and at the same time, I felt bad for her.
But I really don’t want to use the word “pitiful” when I talk about her.
Roah is the coolest baby in the world.
The second flight was not easy either,
but we safely arrived in Kenya.
The luggage of our nine [모로뷰 more of You] team members, including Roah, came to nearly twenty large pieces of luggage.
Eight of them were boxes of gospel tracts.
We were a little worried because they were packed in boxes, but in the end, we were stopped by Kenyan customs and were asked to pay a much larger tax than we had expected.
We spent quite a while going back and forth with the government official in charge of customs, explaining what we were there to do.
We also tried to approach him in a friendly way,
and while we were at it, we even shared a little bit of the Gospel.
We managed to reduce the tax by more than half. (?)
It was strange to think that you could negotiate a tax,
but apparently, it was possible.
So we paid an amount that was still disappointing,
or perhaps, thankfully, an amount that was manageable,
and finally made our way out of the Kenyan airport.
Welcome to Nairobi
Kenya.
We had finally arrived in the first country of the GO AFRICA Tour.
And we met two members who would be joining us for this tour:
Cyro and Njoki from Kubamba, a ministry team in Kenya.
I don’t know how much closer we will become with them from here,
but I was really glad to meet them.
And finally, the van we had been looking forward to so much!
The van was so flashy that it was almost surprising.
The van carried all of our luggage and still had room for all of us.
This was the van that would carry us on this incredible journey across the African continent.
As soon as we got in the van, African music started playing.
Roah danced excitedly, and she looked great.
Until that moment, after finally arriving in Kenya following the flights, I had been thinking,
Maybe Roah is feeling better now!
We arrived at our accommodation,
and Roah received an enthusiastic welcome from the neighborhood children.
We had returned to African soil just four and a half months after being there until February this year.
And now, we were going across the continent!
